Polymer-based, setting retardant concrete additive, preferred in hot weather conditions, increases the workability time of the concrete, facilitating placement and surface finishing operations. It allows continuous setting of concrete without cold joints. Thanks to the delay of the setting time, it extends the time of hydration of cement with water and the hydration slows down the increase in heat, providing long workability.
In addition, during the mixing process to improve the properties of concrete in a fresh and/or hardened state, the plug retarder with the added material does not exceed 5% of the mass of cement; it also provides a chemical additive that extends the time of transition of the mixture from plastic to solid (starting time of the plug).
Areas of Use
It can be used ,n case of long-distance transport of concrete, large-volume (mass concrete) concrete pouring, in case of pouring large volume (mass concrete) concrete and in case of prevention of cold joints, in high temperature concrete pouring, long wait concrete pouring, thin reinforced concrete productions with placement difficulties, in the concrete production where impermeability is required, in places that will be vibrated again and to eliminate consistency losses in hot, windy and humid weather
Characteristics/ Advantages
It extends the setting times in a controlled manner and does not have a negative effect on the final strength. It reduces creep and shrinkage, increases workability, and minimizes the temperature effect. It reduces decomposition and perspiration and provides easy pumping. It prevents concrete from losing its fast consistency and provides long consistency protection depending on the type of cement used. It prevents shrinkage cracks that may occur due to high hydration temperature.
Application / Warning
It is used by adding concrete to the mixture water or directly mixing it into newly prepared low-precipitation fresh concrete. It is added directly to the dry mixture, after 70% of the water to be added to the mixture is added and it can be added to the mixture with the remaining water.
If added directly to fresh concrete, the mixing time should be extended for at least 1 – 2 minutes at fast speed to ensure sufficient homogeneity, or this time should be determined by laboratory tests. Concrete components may differ according to their structure. In order not to cause decomposition in concrete, it is important that the amount of additives to be added is in the appropriate dosages. It is necessary to check with preliminary tests whether the pre-production additive is suitable for concrete design.
When more additives are used than the specified range of use, the setting time of the concrete can be extended. In such cases, it is necessary to keep the concrete moist until it hardens and mildew. It does not contain chloride or any other component that may cause corrosion in the equipment. Thus, it is considered suitable for use in reinforced concrete structures.
