Chemical powders called iron oxides are organic or inorganic structures with small particles. In addition, iron oxide pigments are divided into two main groups: natural and synthetic pigments.
Natural Iron Oxide Pigments
Natural iron oxide pigments are divided into three parts by themselves. These sections, on the other hand, can be listed as OKR, ombra and sienna iron oxides. The main reason for this grouping is that iron oxides differ in their color changes and chemical content.
OKR
It is a type of iron oxide that can usually be found in intonations ranging from yellow to red.
Sienna
It is a type of iron oxide that can usually be found in intonations ranging from yellow to Orange.
Ombra
It is a variety of iron oxide, which usually varies between dark brown shades.
Synthetic Iron Oxide Pigments
Especially in recent years, with the change and development of the chemical sector, synthetic iron oxide pigments are also increasing. It is because now the chemical industry can also obtain many substances synthetically.
Red Pigmented Iron Oxide
Red iron oxide, which can be considered the most important of these synthetic products, can be obtained by four methods. The first three of these methods are methods carried out according to the calcination principle, while the other can be considered as a chemical dissolution method. Through these methods, red pigments can be produced in different shades, regardless of light color to dark color.
Yellow Pigmented Iron Oxide
Three methods can be used to create yellow pigmented iron oxides. Two of these are the ones acquired through a process by dissolving iron oxide salts. The other one is color change. The color change varies depending on the size of the grains and the reaction times of these grains. Therefore, the color of the pigment, which has a long reaction time and consists of large grains, give orange color while the pigments, having a short reaction time and consist of small grains, give yellow color and its shades.
What Are The Uses Of Iron Oxides?
Iron oxides are powders that can be used in many areas, and they have a variety of uses. These areas of use can be examined in a very wide frame as; paint, ceramics, rubber floor, rubber parquet, lining, stone painting, concrete coloring, paper industry.
Iron Oxide Red H-130, Iron Oxide Yellow G313, Iron Oxide Black 318, Iron Oxide Brown 660, Iron Oxide green 835, Iron Oxide Red H116, Chromium Oxide green 5376 products are included in Kimteks’ product portfolio.
